“Quantum mechanics emerged more than a hundred years ago in order to explain atoms, energy, and solid matter. Nowadays, quantum-mechanical phenomena such as superpositions, entanglement, energy quantization, and zero-point noise are also observed at a relatively macroscopic scale, including in the vibrations of mechanical oscillators. I will describe how we can address fundamental questions on quantum properties of motion by studying micromechanical oscillators at low temperatures.” Link to join Youtube livestream: https://youtu.be/k0Ac3fvMuQ0
